leadership roles/ duties and responsibilities of principals

Educational administyration starts with leadership and devotion.
He must participate by influencing others to contribute. It is not the power,, butability to accomplish through personal capabilities.
he must establish direction. He must sensitize the fellow faculty at microlevel for greater profdessionalism fo0r better results in a constuctive fashion at the fundamental level.
He must develop a cadre of devoted professionals. Students must be comfortably, technically employable.
He must provide resources. He must thionk of ways to stimulate objective perception of reality in the staff and students . Students musdt rember that the college has given him good knowledge tools useful in life..
He must encourage and recognise achievements by investing responsibilities and importance.
In establishing the direction-- he must think in the directions as to what direction he is provideng to fellow teachers by way of conducting various meetings with all the teachers. It is the question of better coordination of the4 activities. It is the question of achieving the desired results by a variety of activities tothe students and staff. He must thionk of developing technical leaders of the disciplines in a true sense.
It is necessary to adapt certain TQM methods ofd management , which develop customer ( student) focus, teamwork, teacher involvement and empowerment , continual improvement , bottom up education and tyraining, unity of purpose-- which are effective in providing efficient services for the students.
He should be creating a world in which engineers, scientists, colleagues are respected for the exemplery ethical behaviour and volunteerism.
He must be committed to the core values namely service to humanity, global focus, intelletual activities, growth and nurturing of profession, collaboration and community building.
He must think of developing the institute into a consulting and applied research organisation.
Thus the leader ( principal ) must be a multifaceted professional, trying to cater to the needs of multi-person, multi-goal, multilevel and multidirectional fasion.
