objective vitae of Dr. KJ Sarma

OBJECTIVE VITAE OF PROF. KALAVENDI JAGADEESA SARMA,PH.D., SMIEEE
IT is a debate as to whether academic engineers and practitioners can guide budding engineers better. Engineering consists of making decisions based on quantitative methods.
Aristotle says:’ What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing’.
Peter Drucker says: ‘The best way to predict the future is to create it’.
Moreover Mentoring, guiding and preparing professionals and practitioners in life/college need teachers with good objective out look, experience, exposure and a true bent up of practical thinking.
WE need teachers and guides who have hands on experience and have grown in an environment having a true insight of large scale problems / industrial experience. As far as Dr. KJ Sarma is concerned. PRESENTLY IS PROFESSOR OF I.T./cse AT TRREC
1. He took his M.Sc. (Applied Mathematics, 1975) from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal.
2. He obtained his Ph.D. (Operations research, 1981) from IIT, ( Kharagpur); Registered in Mathematics’. The title of his dissertation is “Studies on a class of divergent Markov Decision Processes “.
3. He was a trainee in SQC & OR unit of Bhilai Steel Plant for a period of 3 months i.e. in Oct. - Dec., 1974, which gave an opportunity to observe and experience an industrial expertise - which can be considered as a rare opportunity for a human being and an asset to an engineering teacher. He has attended and organized several training programs related to several engg subjects.
4. Dr. Sarma worked as a Scientist B of DOE (GOI) project on Reliability based Optimal Design of Electronic Systems “; attached to Dept of EEE, University of Roorkee. The duties consisted of preparing reports and packages using several sophisticated numerical optimization algorithms in the design of circuits.
5. He worked as a teacher ( A.P., & Professor at KSRMCE & GPREC Kurnool ( 1 ½ year’s ); CBIT ( 17 years ) ; AEC , Bhongir ( 1 ½ years ) , TRREC, Patanchru ( 5 years ); and MXIT (Bommalaramaram (1 academic year ).
6. He taught the M.Tech students, MCP & MRP students and B.Tech students, the subject’s operations research, Engg. Mathematics applied Probability models, STOCH. OPTN. , for 3 ½ years as R/S and R/A at IIT, Kharagpur during 1975-1982.In all he has an experience of about 35 years
7. He was I/C principal at GPREC, Kurnool, I/C Principal AEC, Bhongir; I/C and Officiating Principal at JEC ( now TRREC); and principal ( MXIT ).
8. He taught several Applicable Mathematics and Engg. Related TOPICS, PTSP, OR, OT, and RT, including some of the Computer Science subjects - discrete mathematics, Algorithms, Automata Theory ,E-Commerce, information retrieval, pattern recognition, advanced problem solving etc at both UG and PG levels. He developed a database of 1200 seminar / project topics, which indicates his commitment to education and concern for communication skills. He is concerned with ethics in design and implementing of technology manufacturing.
9. He was invited to ICTP, Italy to deliver talk and attend a workshop on Industrial Mathematics during 1987on UNESCO grant.
10. He is a Sr. Member of IEEE for the last 25 years. He arranged several CPD programs and talks for both working engineers and teachers. He is responsible for the success of several national and International events under the auspices of IEEE. He is also responsible for the formation of about 20 IEEE student branches in AP in 1999 and 2000. He has put in extraordinary efforts for carrying out REP activity during 2000, for nearly 70 colleges. He encourages students to have Industrial experience get involved in hardware design only.
11. He exhibited several leadership qualities and professionalism in executing many academic and nonacademic activities. He is an Awardee of 1999 IEEE Asia Pacific Region 10 Outstanding Volunteer Award for his contributions to CPD programs & success of conferences.
12. He has been on the expert panel in examining the M.Tech Dissertations in CSE and AI, Hyderabad Central University.
13. His ideas on Education were appreciated by the ‘Centre for Human Evolution Studies’ (CHES, rome) and he was conferred with member of the International scientific committee by CHES.
14. Over and above all his experiences in undertaking Kailash Mansarovar and Muktinath Yatras by trekking indicate his commitment to amalgamating spiritualism with real life, both inner & outer selves.
15. He has been INVITED AND listed in the who is who directories of Marquis’, ABI and IBC
16. His concern, concept, commitment and enthusiasm to design, practical thinking, contributions to decision, education, quality, reliability and professionalism are unique.
